  • This documentation will teach you how to set up and use the MAXBLOG WordPress Theme. The theme is very easy to use and we are here to guide and help you, so please read and follow the documentation, if there some other issues you want to discuss then do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected]. This documentation is more of a reference work if you do not know what to do, or if you are not familiar with WordPress.
  • Please read the following documentation very carefully as it will help you set the theme up, we have gone through the setup process multiple times and provided the best possible instructions.
  • We strongly recommend you to use a fresh install of WordPress and integrate your content into the pages according to the documentation. Of course, you can try to implement the theme into your current WordPress, but we will not provide in-depth support for it. The theme has specific settings that may conflict with your current setup of categories, plugins, javascript use, and more.
  • We wish you good luck in your work with MAXBLOG WordPress Theme, and of course we would love to see your website and what you come up with by using this theme.
  • The theme is very easy to use and we are here to guide and help you, so please read and follow the instructions and if you have further questions write us an email [email protected]. This documentation is more of a reference work if you do not know what to do and need a better understanding of how the template is built write us an email.

Uploading via FTP

  1. Download the zipped theme pack to your computer from ThemeForest and extract the ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
  2. In the extracted folder you will find 'maxblog.zip'. Extract this file .
  3. Using an FTP client to access your host web server
  4. Upload the Theme files in the extracted folder called 'maxblog' to wp-content/themes directory provided by WordPress.
  5. Visit Admin panel -> Appearance -> Themes , look for the MAXBLOG theme thumbnail, then click the Activate button to activate the theme.

Installing From the WordPress Dashboard:

  1. Download the zipped theme pack to your local computer from ThemeForest and extract the ZIP file contents to a folder on your local computer.
  2. Log into your WordPress admin panel and click on the “Appearance” tab.
  3. Now click on the "Add New" button.
  4. Click on the "Upload" tab, click "Choose File" and select maxblog.zip in the extracted folder then click "Open" .
  5. Click the "Install Now" button.
  6. Activate the theme from this page by clicking "Activate" , or "Return to Themes Page" and activate from there

One Click To imported Demo

The theme provide one click to import demo. Please following below steps:

  1. Go to Dashboard area
  2. Navigate to Theme Options -> Demo Importer
  3. Then Click on "import".

This process may take a few mins, Please don't refresh or close this page. If you have issue with this, try again, Or you can use manual setup in next part.

Manually Upload XML File (In case one click to import doesn't work)

The content is only that: content. Once you have imported the data you will still need to continue reading the documentation for configuring the pages, menus, and additional theme settings.

Import dummy data

This process may take a little time, please be patient. if you have got issue, try to reset your site with WordPress Reset plugin and try again.
  1. Go to Admin panel -> Tools -> Import -> WordPress
  2. Install the plugin.
  3. Use it to upload the maxblog-demo.xml file in the theme package /demo data folder.
  4. When you are importing be sure to check "Download and Import file attachments". This will make sure the photos for each posts are included as well.

Setup Menu

  1. After finish import demo data. Go to Appearance -> menus -> Manager Locations and then, set main-nav for Main Menu, and top-nav for Top Menu
  2. Click save change to save your settings

Setup Home Page

  1. Go to Appearance -> customize to set up your homepage.
  2. In Settings -> reading option, choose A Static Page. In Front Page option, choose "Home Page" . Click Save changes.

Import Demo Widget

  1. First you need to remove all widgets that are active on your site. go to Appearance -> Widgets then removing all widget in sections.
  2. Using the handy Widget Importer & Exporter plugin simply go to Tools > Widget Import/Export, click on Choose File and select the home-widgets.wie file, then click the button that says Import Widgets.

Import Theme Option

  1. Open theme-options.json by notepad.
  2. Copy all text then paste into theme options -> import/export -> Import From file
  3. Click "save change" to save your import

If you are migration from a theme which used the native featured images functionality of WordPress, please use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to resize all the thumbnails. Click the link above and download the free plugin, and read through the steps it contains, it has all the information you need.

Setting Up New Menus

  1. Navigate to Appearance → Menus and click Add Menu.
  2. Give it a name, add links and click "Save Menu" button.
  3. Click on Manage Locations tab (WP 3.6 or higher), assign a Menu Location for your newly created menu, by selecting it for the preferred Theme Location.

The theme comes with 3 custom menu locations: Main Menu, Top Menu and Footer Menu. You must define your menu items for each menu location, once you have created your pages.

The theme has a widgetized homepage that you can easy build your content by drag and drop widgets into homepage sections .

Drag and Drop Homepage Builder

  1. Go to Admin panel -> Pages -> Add new to create a new page.
  2. Enter title for your homepage, example: Home Page. In the Page Attributes box, select Home page in Template optionthen click Publish.
  3. Now let's go to Admin panel -> Appearance -> Widgets to build your homepage content.
  4. The theme homepage has four sections: one section Top Full Width at top, one Primary Content section, one Bottom Full Width at bottom and 2 Sidebarsection. one for home, the rest of the blog.
  5. To start building homepage content, drag Module widgets on the left into desire sections. [FullWidth Widget] can only be placed in Full Width section, while [Content widget] can only be placed in both Full Width section and Primary content section. widget with [Primary Content widget]can be placed in Primary content section and [Sidebar Widget] can be placed in Sidebar section .
  6. Sidebar Widgets (have description [Sidebar Widget] and default WordPress widgets can be placed in Home sidebar, Blog sidebar or Footer Sidebar. Home Sidebar will display on Static Homepage and Blog Sidebar will display on the other pages such as: blog, single, category, archive page....
  7. Once you finish building the homepage content, go to Appearance -> customize to set up your homepage.
  8. In Settings -> reading option, choose A Static Page. In Front Page option, choose the page that you have just created in the steps above, example: Home Page . Click Save changes.
  9. Go to your site home url to check if your homepage has been set.

MAXBLOG uses Widgets to build content of Home Page. With the combination of 3 Full Width Widget, 7 Content Widget, 3 Primary Content Widget and 9 other Widget, The layouts you can create is unlimited.

  1. TN . BIG Slider:Display of post titles and thumbnails in full wide slider layout. This widget can be placed Full Widthsection.

  2. TN . GRID Featured:Display of post titles and thumbnails in a grid layout. This widget can be placed Full Width section. can set it in style options.. This widget have 3 style, you can set it in style Option.

  3. TN . SLIDER & GRID Featured:Display of post titles and thumbnails combined slider and grid layout. This widget can placed Full Width section

  4. TN . CAROUSEL Slider:This widget can be placedFull Widthsection orPrimary Contentsection. This widget have 2 custom style, you can set it in style options.

  5. TN . GIRD of Image:Display of post thumbnails in a grid layout. This widget can be placedFull Widthsection orPrimary Contentsection.

  6. TN . POSTS BOX 1:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

  7. TN . POSTS BOX 2:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

  8. TN . POSTS BOX 3:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection and Full Width section. Enable 3 Columns layout if you place it into Full Width Section. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

    Notice: Minimum number of post this widget is 2.

  9. TN . POSTS BOX 4:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection and Full Width section. Enable 3 Columns layout if you place it into Full Width Section. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

    Notice: You also can enable 3 column of this widget in primary section. Minimum number of post this widget is 2.

  10. TN . POSTS BOX 5:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection. This widget have 3 sections, each section can set the layout, sort order, this widget have 5 custom style for all section, you also can set title for each section.

  11. TN . POSTS BOX 6:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection and Full Width section. Enable 3 Columns layout if you place it into Full Width Section. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

  12. TN . POSTS BOX 7:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection and Full Width section. Enable 2 Columns layout if you place it into Full Width Section. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

  13. TN . POSTS BOX 8:This widget can be placed Primary Contentsection and Full Width section. Enable 2 Columns layout if you place it into Full Width Section. Set title is"default" if you want display link of category.

  14. TN . POSTS SIDEBAR BOX:This widget only can be placed in Sidebar section . This widget have 7 custom style. you can set it in style options.

    Note: Ajax Pagination unavailable in footer sidebar.

  15. TN . Advertising Box:Display custom ads or google ads code. This widget can be placed in anywhere section

  16. Other WidgetOther Widget and default widget is very easy setup.

The Theme Options Panel helps you easily take control over your site, by allowing you to upload your logo and favicon, style the appearance of the theme with your custom colors, change fonts, turn features on and off, paste the Analytics code without having to write any code....

To access the Theme Options panel, navigate to Admin → Theme Options.

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> Header Setting tab .
  2. In the Logo section click + button and select your logo image (Recommended size logo: 270 × 90).
  3. Once uploaded click Save changes button to save your site logo.

The theme will auto generate a logo for your site base on the site title, but it's recommended that you upload your own logo.

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> Header Setting tab .
  2. In the Favicon Image section click + button and select your Favicon Image.
  3. Once uploaded click Save changes button to save your site favicon.

Choose site color scheme

  1. In Admin panel, go to Theme Options -> Color & BG (background) Settings tab
  2. Here you can choose a global color. Recommender best color for this site: flatuicolorpicker
  3. Click Save changes to save setting.

Site Background

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> Color & BG settings .
  2. To enable boxed mode in Site Layout
  3. Choose Body Background options for your site. The theme supports all style of background.
  4. Note: background is only available in boxed layout mode.
  5. Click Save changes to save settings.

Site Typography

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> Typography settings .
  2. Choose font options for your site. The theme supports all Google Fonts.
  3. Menu Font effect to Top Navigation and Main Navigation.
  4. Module Title Font effect to bar title.
  5. Title Post Font effect to post title.
  6. Meta Tags Font effect to meta tags: date, author, breadcrumbs ...
  7. Body Text Google Font affects text body, excerpt, content...
  8. ClickRESET SECTION to back default settings.

All of your posts must have a featured image. these images will appears in the slider , post modules , sidebar .. etc

Feature image auto crop and fix size but we recommended size for the Featured images is greater than 1170px x 700px.
Theme cropped all uploaded images to fit its places in the theme .. if you have any problems with the size of old images which uploaded before install the theme you need to use Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin or AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild Plugin to regenerate thumbnails with suitable sizes .

Post format

The theme support 6 WordPress post formats: Standard, Gallery, Video, Image, Audio, Quote.

  1. Standard - uses only the default fields.
  2. Video Post

    1. Enable Video Post Format

    2. In "Post Options" meta box. Paste here the Link of the page with the video (you want to add. Most of the video hosting sites are supported such as Vimeo and YouTube, DailyMotion.

  3. Audio

    Same video Post. Enable Audio Post Format and Paste Link. Theme support SoundCloud host.

  4. gallery:

    1. Enable Gallery Post Format

    2. click Select or Upload images button to add a gallerry to the post.
    3. hold ctrl button and choose what your want.
    4. Click select.

      Adding a Review Post

      1. From the Review Options box in the post edit page .
      2. Tick the checkbox Enable Review.
      3. Enter the criteria name and use the slider to adjust criteria score. The Final average score will be calculated automatically.
      4. You can have up to 6 criteria in a review box.
      5. Type the Review Summary your summary for the review item. You can create lists of pros and cons in here.
      6. Click Publish or Update button to save.

      Other Options

      You can Make Post Full Width, Left Sidebar or disable comment this post by ticking Make Post Full Width and Disable Comment Boxcheckbox

      You can create Source Link of post in POST OPTIONS

Category Options

Category Layout

You can choose layout for each category.

You can choose options for slider of each category

  1. In Admin panel, go to Posts -> Categories
  2. Click a category to edit it
  3. In Category edit page, choose a desire layout for current category in Category Layout Options
  4. Click update to save

Category featured slider

You can enable a featured grid that displays featured posts in that category

  1. Before you need create "featured" category to save feature posts.
  2. In Admin panel, go to Posts -> Categories
  3. Click a category to edit it
  4. In Category edit page, choose options for Show Featured Posts: select Show
  5. In Show Posts From: select Featured Category
  6. Click Update to save

The theme has 10 blog layout that can be set separately for each page and category.

Setting Pages Layout:

  1. In Admin panel, go to Theme Options -> Page option
  2. For each page listed, choose a desire layout.
  3. Click Save Changes to save option.

Header style

The theme header has 2 layout: Left or Center.

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> HEADER Option .
  2. Choose the desire style for your header
  3. Click Save changes to save settings.

Add Google AdSense code to header

  1. In Admin panel, go to Theme Options -> Header Options
  2. Enter the Google Adsense code into Choose Google Ads or Custom Ads (recommender ads size: 728px*90px) textarea.
  3. You can custom your ads by switch this button.
  4. Click Save changes to save setting.

Top bar social icons

  1. Navigate to Theme Options -> SOCIAL Option .
  2. In Enable Social, click on.
  3. Fill in the full url of each media social URL.
  4. Click Save changes to save settings.
  5. Theme auto add your social in header.

Sidebar can be set to be placed on right or left side of site content. Go to Theme Options -> SIDEBAR to change these options.

Sidebar Can sticky when scrolling up and down.

This theme may be updated periodically in order to add new features and fix bugs. When a new update be available an update message will appears on your WordPress dashboard . As a customer, you can download the most current version from your ThemeForest account.

Updating Automatically

Envato have developed the Envato Toolkit Plugin for WordPress. You can use this to receive notification of updates to themes purchased from ThemeForest and to automatically update (upon clicking) directly from within your WordPress admin area.

  • Download the plugin zip file to your computer.
  • In your WordPress admin area, go to Plugins -> Add New then click Upload.
  • Click Choose File, select the plugin zip file you downloaded and click Install Now.
  • After installation, click Activate .
  • Click the new Envato Toolkit link in the menu and follow the instructions to configure the plugin.

Updating Manually

  • Download the most current version from ThemeForest in the "Downloads" area of your account.
  • Unzip the package and locate MAXBLOG.zip in the theme folder.
  • Go to Appearance -> Themes and activate another theme such as the default WordPress theme.
  • Delete the MAXBLOG theme which is now inactive.
  • Go to Install Themes -> Upload then install and activate MAXBLOG.zip from the new package.

MAXBLOG is able to be translated into any language. The process of translating the theme is a user responsibility. The following instructions are given as guidance.

  1. Open wp-config.php and replace this: define ('WPLANG', ''); with this (subsitute the language string (bg_BG) with your own!): define ('WPLANG', 'bg_BG');
  2. Download and install POEDIT
  3. Connect to your site -> open your theme/languages directory
  4. Look for the default.po file in theme package and open it with POEDIT.
  5. Translate file and save it as bg_BG (the file name must match with the string you inserted into wp-config.php)
  6. Two files will be generated after save. bg_BG.po and bg_BG.mo
  7. Upload the .mo and .po files into wp-content/themes/your-theme/languages folder
Your WordPress installation should be in the language you intend on using the site.
